“Gents, I feel privileged to have been part of your bowl experience in North Carolina. I cannot overstate how proud I am of you and what you accomplished there. You each demonstrated the core meaning and true spirit of teamwork and never letting up despite circumstances.

After the match I had the great pleasure of talking to tournament officials, parents, and fans and I want to share my impressions with you. You should know that you represented our institution extraordinarily well. Many people are very proud of what you are accomplishing as you mature as individuals and rugby players. They are thankful for your service to our nation. You stepped up during a busy time at school and that did not go unnoticed by those involved with this match. It was clear that your performance advanced the sport we all love.

As we’re all aware, this was the first D1A Bowl matchup, so it was critical to have a match that generates momentum going forward, and the team accomplished that goal. You set the tone in Bowl 1 such that other teams across the country will aspire to go to Bowl 2 and so on. It was quite an entertaining match with many great highlights! The kind that will inspire more youth to play and that is great for USA rugby. Don’t underestimate the importance of those contributions.  This match was very inspirational for me! As I watched the team perform, I was filled with enthusiasm for next season. The things I saw you do on the pitch yesterday are easily transferable to 7s and that bodes well for us in the spring. You are going to be a tough opponent for the other teams around the country. You are the kind of team that planners want to invite to their events. Develop from those thoughts.”
