Harry (OIC) was a Mil Dept Instructor and a VMI grad. He set up trips in the fall of 74 and 75 to VMI. We won both matches
OBTW, Saturday morning when we staggered out to play a well-rested Army team, we had only 14 players show up. At the last minute we found our fullback, Pat Hanley asleep in a car near the pitch. We woke him up right before the game started. In the first few minutes, he caught a kick, was running it back, got tackled and separated some ribs. Went off the pitch and back to sleep in the car…
In fall 1975, Terry Williams, Keith Wilkinson, Jimmy Carter and Rich Carlson were selected to the ERRFU Select Side side and played in the Western Rugby Union Tournament. Sal Reza might have been on that side, too.
The Academy was invited to send a rugby side down to Reno by the Mayor to play an exhibition game against a touring New Zealand university side in the October of 1975. Cadet Loerakker won about $500 just to lose it later in the evening.
