Then Maj Osur ordered Capt Penny to get a female officer to ride on the bus….this was supposedly to keep our ladies in check.    I solicited the staff for volunteers and we had one volunteer….very attractive blonde who knew absolutely nothing about rugby, but she thought it would be fun.    I’ll check with my wife for a name.  She only lasted one trip which happened to be the Women’s Colorado tournament.  As I recall, she almost fainted when a couple of our ladies almost ripped the jersey off an opposing player.  To finish the job after the whistle, the opposing player removed her jersey much to the delight of the crowd.  A replacement jersey was given to her so she could continue the match of course.  Good memories.  I ran into the captain at an AFA social some time after the tournament….she was a new Major and said, “she did not think the game would be good for her career!”  She never met Al!!!

Best memory was our ladies showing up on Sundays to study at our house in the Springs.  Charlotte loved the girls (we had two boys).  It was very much like an extended family visit on sunny, warm Sundays.  Great memories.
