Heartbreaking loss in the final of the Bobcat 7s for Silver: CSU-A was penalized with a few seconds left in the match and we were leading 24-19, meaning that we could tap and go then kick to touch for the win. The Center Ref used terminology that was unfamiliar to us “he wanted to see one phase of play”. He was trying to tell the players that a kick straight to touch would result in a line-out. We teach this scenario regularly so our player are generally aware. In order to “comport” to our understanding of the Center Refs communication, we chose a scrum which we won but lost possession in loose play. CSU-A took possession, ran an error free couple of phases and were able to score and win on the conversion.

Tough draw at the Nationals as losing the first game put us in a lower bracket. The team we beat in the Oklahoma 7s to qualify made it to the final 4 and finished 4th.

On a positive note, Jackson Macias was selected to the Primier Division All Tournament Team on the strength of his scoring, comning in second in scoring for the premier Division at 58 points, only 6 points behind the leader.
