Zoomie Men's Rugby departed on the 2022 Rugby Leadership Initiative (RLI) to southern France. This a bi-annual experience is designed for the USAFA Men's Rugby Team to travel to another country for Professional Military Development, Mil-to-Mil engagement, cultural immersion, and rugby fellowship. This year 25 players made the trip to southern France where they will visit the Ecole de l'Air (French Air Force Academy), meet with US Military and State Department officials, visit a French Air Force fighter squadron, and play two matches; one against the Salon-de-Provence Rugby Club and one against their cadet counterparts from the Ecole de l'Air. Additionally, the team will be guests at a very special annual match between the Royal Air Force and the French Air Force. This is an exciting trip for these young ambassadors from USAFA and Zoomie Rugby. Many of the Zoomie Men's Rugby coaches participated in RLI as USAFA cadets and shared our experiences and the impacts it had on us as graduates, leaders, and advocates for our sport.
