Heartbreaking loss in the final of the Bobcat 7s for Silver: CSU-A was penalized with a few seconds left in the match and we were leading 24-19, meaning that we could tap and go then kick to touch for the win. The Center Ref used terminology that was unfamiliar to us “he wanted to see one phase of play”. He was trying to tell the players that a kick straight to touch would result in a line-out. We teach this scenario regularly so our player are generally aware. In order to “comport” to our understanding of the Center Refs communication, we chose a scrum which we won but lost possession in loose play.
